Find Leflore County Projected Release

A Leflore County projected release date depends on the custody system and the kind of sentence. A state prisoner may have a calculated date in the Mississippi corrections record. A pretrial detainee usually has no fixed release date because bond, court action, or transfer controls what happens next. A local sentence must be checked with the jail and sentencing court. To learn when someone will be released, identify the last custodian before reading any date. Projected, parole-eligible, physically released, and finally discharged are separate points. Each must be confirmed through the record that documents that stage.

Leflore Projected Versus Actual Release

Mississippi Department of Corrections records use the exact label Tentative Release Date. That is the agency’s calculated sentence endpoint after time computation. It is useful for planning, but it is not a promise that a person will walk out of a facility that day. MDOC combines sentence information, eligible pre-sentence jail credit, sentence structure, earned-time eligibility, and later changes. Multiple sentences may run concurrently, at the same time, or consecutively, one after another.

An actual release entry documents the physical custody change. A discharge certificate documents an official release step in the MDOC process. Parole or Earned Release Supervision can place a person in the community before final discharge. The person can therefore be outside Delta Correctional Facility while still under Mississippi corrections jurisdiction. Final discharge comes only when the governing sentence and supervision have ended.

Scheduled is not actual. Treat the Tentative Release Date as a calculation until MDOC, the jail, or the proper custodian confirms the physical event.

A pretrial Leflore County Jail detainee does not have a sentence-based projected date. Release may turn on bond, a court order, dismissal, another warrant, or transfer. A court order supplies legal authority, while the Sheriff’s release entry supplies the actual time and type of custody change.

Find Leflore Projected Release Dates

Start by separating county detention from a state sentence. Someone arrested in Greenwood or Itta Bena may be released locally, handed to the Leflore County Sheriff, or later transferred to MDOC. Delta Correctional Facility is an MDOC institution, not the county jail. The same name appearing in two systems can mark two different custody episodes.

  1. Identify the last custodian and collect the full name, date of birth, booking or MDOC number, sentence date, and court case number when known.
  2. For a state prisoner, open the MDOC inmate search and use first and last name or MDOC ID.
  3. Open the matching detail and compare name, date of birth, ID, county of conviction, offenses, sentence data, Location, and Location Change Date.
  4. Read the field labeled Tentative Release Date. Keep it separate from parole eligibility, an ERS placement, and actual discharge.
  5. For a county sentence or pretrial case, call the Sheriff for routing and ask the sentencing court for the order and time-served credit. No public Leflore jail calculator was found.
  6. Request the actual release or discharge record when proof is needed. Ask the record holder to identify supervision placement and final discharge separately.

The Leflore County release-search and record process helps trace the last custodian when a person has disappeared from a live roster. A transfer ends one agency’s physical custody but does not establish release to the community.

Note: A name match is not enough; compare stable identifiers and sentence details before relying on a displayed date.

Leflore MDOC Release-Date Fields

The public MDOC detail can display an institutional photograph, full name, MDOC ID, date of birth, entry date, current Location and Unit, Location Change Date, number of sentences, total sentence length, offenses, county of conviction, sentence date, and Tentative Release Date. These fields must be read together. A date without its current Location can hide the difference between prison custody, a transfer, and ERS in the community.

Leflore Earned-Time Release Calculation

Miss. Code section 47-5-138 supplies the core earned-time framework for MDOC sentences. For sentences imposed after June 30, 1995, subsection (5) permits eligible people to receive 4.5 days of earned time for each 30 days served when MDOC finds that conduct and performance requirements are met. The allowance ordinarily cannot exceed 15 percent of the sentence. This creates the common shorthand that a person may serve about 85 percent.

The 85-percent phrase is not an automatic release rule. Credit is conditional. It can be forfeited, and exclusions apply under section 47-5-139 and other offense-specific or sentence-specific law. Trusty or meritorious earned-time provisions may apply in some cases. Certain exceptions also appear in the statute. Only an individual MDOC computation can show which credits apply.

Older sentences require special care. Section 47-5-138(1) describes a different structure for eligible sentences imposed before July 1, 1995, potentially allowing a larger reduction. Applying the newer 15-percent shorthand to every old record would be wrong. The sentence date, offense, eligibility category, court orders, and MDOC calculation all matter.

These statutes were reviewed July 26, 2026. Current official text should be checked before using a percentage in an individual case. A maximum possible credit is not a release promise.

Leflore ERS Release Dates

Earned Release Supervision explains why a person can be physically released yet still have a future date. Under section 47-5-138(6), an eligible person released early remains an inmate under MDOC jurisdiction and stays on ERS through sentence expiration. Supervision functions in a way similar to parole. If ERS is revoked, subsection (7) governs the remainder and credits time served on supervision.

An official MDOC example shows North Mississippi Earned Release Supervision as Location while the Tentative Release Date is still in the future. The right reading is not that the record contradicts itself. It shows release from a building with ongoing inmate status. Search the separate parolee form when parole is suspected, and request MDOC’s actual release and final discharge dates when those distinctions matter.

Tentative date
The current sentence calculation displayed by MDOC.
Parole eligibility
A chance for consideration under governing law, not a promise of release.
ERS
Physical release under earned-time rules with continuing MDOC inmate jurisdiction.
Final discharge
The official end of the sentence and governing supervision.

Why Leflore Release Dates Change

A projected date can move when the facts used in the calculation change. Some causes arise within MDOC, while others begin with a court or another agency. The public detail does not show every internal computation. Contact MDOC Records for questions about offender time, jail credit, eligibility, and the actual release or discharge record.

MDOC’s release information directs an inmate to the case manager for the exact current plan. It also says the case manager verifies travel. A family member or member of the public should not assume that a tentative online date contains the same operational detail available inside the case-management process.

Note: A parole grant may precede physical release conditions, while a denial or later action can leave the sentence path unchanged.

Leflore’s Split Release-Date System

Leflore County has a sharp local divide. The Sheriff’s official page is contact-only and exposes no current roster, recent-release archive, projected-date field, or county good-time calculator. MDOC offers a detailed Tentative Release Date and current Location, yet that state calculation still does not prove actual release. The county path and state path should never be blended.

For a local misdemeanor or other county-controlled sentence, request the Sheriff’s time-computation and release record, then ask the proper court for the sentencing order and any credit for time served. No official Leflore jail good-time policy was found. The MDOC 85-percent framework must not be applied to a locally controlled sentence without authority.

No verified local weekend-release rule or Friday-for-Sunday practice was found. Do not shift a date based on a presumed weekend schedule. Ask for the actual timestamp and release event from the custodian. If the entry says transfer, obtain the receiving agency rather than treating the date as a community release.

Confirm Leflore Actual Release

For state cases, MDOC says the release process can take 30 to 45 days, the case manager supplies the actual date and verifies travel, and a discharge certificate is required before release. Those are statewide facts, not a Delta-specific gate schedule. No verified Delta exit time, waiting location, or weekend rule was found.

MDOC Records is at P.O. Box 24388, Jackson, MS 39225, with telephone 601-933-2889 and MDOCRecordsDepartment@mdoc.state.ms.us. Formal public-record requests must be written through the MDOC general-public route; the agency says it does not accept those requests by phone. Ask for the actual physical release date, release type or supervision placement, discharge-certificate date, and final supervision-discharge date.

For county custody, contact the Sheriff at P.O. Box 905, Greenwood, MS 38935-1953, or 662-453-5141 for routing. Ask for the booking or jail-register entry, actual release date and time, release code, and receiving agency. A Leflore VINELink inmate search can add a pending custody-change alert if the correct agency participates, but the agency record remains the proof.
